Homemade Fly and Cockroach Repellent

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 10 drops of essential oil (peppermint, eucalyptus, or lavender)
  • 1 teaspoon liquid dish soap (optional, for cockroaches)

Instructions:

  1. Mix the Solution: Combine water, vinegar, and essential oil in a spray bottle. For added effectiveness against cockroaches, mix in the dish soap.
  2. Target Problem Areas:
    • Spray the mixture around entry points, such as windows, doors, and crevices.
    • Focus on areas where cockroaches or flies are frequently spotted, such as sinks, drains, garbage bins, and countertops.
  3. Clean and Declutter:
    • Ensure there’s no leftover food or crumbs in the area.
    • Keep garbage bins tightly sealed and wipe down surfaces regularly.
  4. Observe the Results: The vinegar and essential oils will repel flies, while the dish soap breaks down the protective layer on cockroaches, leading to their demise. You should notice a significant reduction within an hour.

Additional Tips:

  • For Flies: Hang strips of flypaper or create a trap with a bowl of apple cider vinegar covered in plastic wrap with holes poked in it.
  • For Cockroaches: Sprinkle boric acid or baking soda in crevices and behind appliances for a long-term solution.

By combining prevention with this quick, effective method, you can keep your home pest-free naturally. Let me know if you’d like more tips!
